J'adore Paris!

I thought I'd share some photos from our trip to Paris and Versailles. We were able to get away without the kids and have some very much needed alone time. We absolutely fell in love with the 'City of Light'! Back in the States we heard all sorts of awful things about Paris, but we never observed anything close to the rumors. Maybe we just got really lucky. What a romantic city, it was everything I dreamed of!

Notre Dame cathedral

The beautiful Arc de Triomphe monument honoring those who fought in French wars

No, this is not escargot, just 234 steps to the top of the Arc de Triomphe

Statue inside the Arc de Triomphe

View from atop the Arc de Triomphe toward the newer part of Paris

Looking down at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from within the top of the Arc de Triomphe

The tomb of the unknown soldier and the eternal flame. France and Britain claim to have the first "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier". Sorry London, but Paris' is WAY more impressive!

The crepes are so delicious, we want to go back to Paris just for the food!

Beautiful stained glass at Sainte-Chapelle

The glittering Eiffel tower at night. We took a romantic walk along the streets of Paris and the Seine River. I love, love, love PARIS!

Not the best shot, but you get the picture...

Enjoying the views of the Seine and the Eiffel tower on a beautiful night

Ok, this one's for the boys, especially Dave...

This Peugeot makes the Smart car look big!

Getting ready to go to the top of the Eiffel tower

Up, up, up

Almost there, and just in time for sunset

Some wonderful views from the top

You have to take a 'kissing' photo in front of the Eiffel tower!

VERSAILLES

The chapel inside the Chateau

There are beautiful paintings all over the walls and ceilings

Lovin' the furniture

A portrait of Marie Antoinette

Guestroom

The Hall of Mirrors

Wow! It's breathtaking!

French tapestries

The King's bedroom

Marie Antoinette's bedroom

The bed canopy

We had the best dinner here at Montmartre. We walked around winding narrow streets and found tons of shops full of art and good restaurants. Picasso, Monet, and Van Gogh all had studios or worked in Montmartre.

And of course, Moulin Rouge is up on the hill of Montmartre.

The Louvre

Mona Lisa smile!
